The Grimoire of

Narrative & Editorial

"Great mechanics make a game fun to play. Great stories make players want to come back."

Every game has a story to tell, whether it's an epic campaign spanning dozens of sessions, a branching adventure where every decision matters, or a few lines of flavor text on a card. I help creators develop their worlds, write engaging stories, and make sure the narrative fits naturally with the gameplay. After all, even the most exciting adventure can fall flat when the story and mechanics don't quite get along.

The Chapters

I. Worldbuilding & Lore

Each world, each scenario, and each character has its own history, culture, conflicts, and secrets waiting to be discovered. Whether you're building a setting from scratch or expanding an existing universe, I can help develop its lore, narrative arcs, and themes, and bring it all together. The goal isn't just to create pages of backstory. We're aiming higher. We want to build a world that players can actually care about, explore, and interact with. We want them to talk about your world long after the game is over and come back for more.

II. Rulebook Structuring

You know how your game works. The challenge is making sure everyone else does, too! I help organize, write, and edit rulebooks with players in mind, looking for confusing explanations, missing information, contradictions, awkward pacing, and all those little loopholes that only seem to appear halfway through a game. I can help make your rulebook easier to read, easier to learn from, and easier to reference during play sessions.

III. Narrative QA & Consistency

Keeping track of an entire fictional universe can quickly get messy, especially when you've got dozens of characters, storylines, hundreds of cards, and countless lines of text. Well, you know the drill. I go through your narrative content with my detective hat and magnifying glass to catch inconsistencies, plot holes, conflicting information, and details that don't quite add up. I help keep everything coherent as your world grows (even that one time you forgot what color the main character's eyes were. Hey, that's important info right there! You never know!).

IV. Flavor Text & Micro-Fiction

Sometimes, a couple of sentences are all you need to give an item a mysterious past, make a location feel unsettling, or turn an ordinary enemy into something memorable. I write short narrative content for cards, items, characters, locations, and other game components, working within the space available without getting in the way of the gameplay. A little flavor can go a loooong way!
